Pay at the discount, or challenge

We tell you which looks right and why. If you challenge, we help you write it.

We check the letter, not just the date.

Each kind of fine has its own rules and deadlines. We read yours against them and tell you what we found, in plain words.

Private parking charges
Whether the letter reached the keeper in time, whether you paid by app or machine, and whether the signs were clear.
Council PCNs
Whether you can still challenge at the discount rate, and what to do if they turn your challenge down.
Speeding notices
Whether the notice arrived within 14 days, and the 28 days you have to name the driver. We give you the facts, not a way out of a legal duty.

Our view: worth challenging

  • The letter reached you 16 days after you parked. A private firm's letter should usually reach the keeper within 14 days.
  • Your bank statement shows £3.40 paid to the car park app at 14:02 that day.
  • If they say no, you can take it to an independent appeal for free.

This is general information to help you decide, not legal advice.

Questions

Is Fineline a law firm?

No. Fineline is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. We read your letter, track the dates, explain the general rules, and help you write your own appeal. You decide what to do and you send it in your own name.

Do you send the appeal for me?

No. We prepare the letter and your evidence. You send it by email from your own address, or paste it into the issuer’s website. That keeps you in control, and it keeps the reply coming to you.

What does it cost?

Tracking and reminders are free, for as many fines as you add. Appeal letters are free while Fineline is in testing.

What happens to my letter?

We keep the photo and what we read from it in your account, so you have it as evidence. Delete a fine and the letter goes with it.

Does it work in Scotland and Northern Ireland?

Tracking and reminders work anywhere in the UK. Appeal help covers England and Wales today, where the rules we check apply.
